The White House, private residence of our Presidents, has undergone numerous and sometimes extensive changes over the years. Through it all remain the original exterior stone walls constructed of gray sandstone quarried in Aquia, Virginia. Charred by fire in the War of 1812, they were then painted white during reconstruction. The house, requiring 570 gallons of paint, has been white ever since. During President Truman’s term, the White house’s original wooden framework was replaced with steel beams. The wooden structure, weakened through years of wartime stress and presidential additions, could no longer bear the weight of such moment. Despite its years, the US Executive Mansion stands as stately and magnificent as at first. Bereft of her original companions, the stone remains and ties together our past, present, and future.

After you decide to add tile to your home you need to measure your space so you will know how much tile to buy. Bring your measurements when you visit our showroom so that we can give you accurate price estimates.

For square or rectanglar spaces, multiply the length by the width to find the area. We typically measure area in square feet.

Length x width = area (square feet  or ft²)

When measuring oddly-shaped spaces, divide the larger area into smaller squares and rectangles. Perform the equation ( length x width = area) for each space. Add the smaller areas together for total square footage.

Keep in mind that there will be some tile waste. Add approximately 10% of total square footage (average) for tile waste. Some tile installations require as low as 5% and some as high as 15% waste depending on tile design.
